Bad blogger, good song

I know. I've been a bad blogger, an absent blogger, a person doing unbloggable things. Luckily, however, others are at work doing things I can post publicly about so here is Montrose singer/songwriter/musician Gary Anderson with his new song. Gary took my Michael Marra poem as a starting point but he has put in a lot of his own words and ideas into the song (and even some Marra too). It's good work. Enjoy. Sing along, why don't you?

You can be an absent blogger as much as you want as long as you post clips like this. I love Gary's voice. It's very clear and articulate. And I loved your poem set to music, too. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

Singing has a good history up here in the north east of Scotland... unaccompanied singing is traditionally strong here and so the voices often are too. I first heard Gary sing with a band he used to be in called Heidrum (still going - a great local band) and I remember thinking 'wow - quite a voice!' back then. His solo stuff goes from strength to strength (and he's still in a band or two too).

He has done a great job with this song. It is still the poem but it is much changed and rearranged and it works really well. It makes me very happy, as I'm not writing much currently, that some of the words I have written are out and about, getting on with business!

Thanks for all the great comments folks. Rachel makes songwriting so easy as most of the hard work is done when I get it. If you want to hear more of my songs you can check them out at www.reverbnation.com/garyandersonmontrose My album Hair o' the Dog is also available to buy via itunes etc or in CD format through Amazon.

Thanks again
Gary
